Vice President Message


Prof. Dr. Prakriti Kumar Ghosh, FIE, FIIW, MNAS, Vice-president of Siddharth Group of Institutions, Puttur, Chittur Dist., Andhra Pradesh, was Senior Professor in Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering of Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee and also held the positions of Govt. of India IPR Chair Professor in IIT Roorkee till April 2017. He has served in many important administrative positions as Officiating Director, Deputy Director and Dean (Finance & Planning) of Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee and Head of the Department of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering of IIT Roorkee. He took lead role in drafting important IP policies of IIT Roorkee and introduced them in practice to strengthen the delivery of research outcome to industry. They are named as “Intellectual property rights policy”, “Business incubation policy” and “Faculty entrepreneur policy”. In this context one of his mission is “Scientific Validation of Traditional Knowledge” to strengthen its claim of IPR for the benefit of the society. He has long experience of working with the innovators from educational institutes and the grass root level unorganised sector of society for promotion of technopreneur. His support includes counselling, preparation and assessment of more than 40 numbers of project proposals to establish micro, small and medium scale technopreneur.

Prof. Ghosh is recipient of the Prestigious Alexander von Humboldt Fellowship (Germany) and several national awards that includes Binany Gold Medal and SAIL Gold Medal of Indian Institute of Metals and ISCMS-Tata Steel Award. He is Member, Reviewers Board (Key Reader), Metallurgical & Materials Trans. (A), ASM, USA (From 2007)

He has extensively travelled to many countries of Asia, Europe and America under several delegations of Govt. of India and as Visiting Scientist/Professor for scientific and engineering research and education. He was Indian representative and member of delegation in many countries for policy making and discussions on academic and research collaboration and Intellectual Property Rights.

He has research interest in the area of innovation management, Traditional Knowledge and Governance, IP Creation and Management, Welding and Adhesive Joining of Materials, Polymer Base Nano Filler Composite, Metal Matrix Composite and Fatigue and Fracture Mechanics. He has carried out 20 major research projects from international and national sponsors and rendered large number of industrial consultancy services in India and abroad. Prof. Ghosh has guided 25 Ph.D. theses, 80 M.Tech. dissertation and published more than 350 research papers. He has 5 patents filling (One granted) in his credit with one in process of Technology Transfer. He has authored a book titled “Pulsed current gas metal arc welding: characteristics, control and applications”, Publ. Springer, Singapore April 2017.

He has served in several responsible positions to promote academics and research as well as to transfer advanced knowledge to industry. Some of them worth mentioning are as follows. Prof. Ghosh has served in executive positions of several professional bodies that include the Advisory Board of M/s Securefire Safety Industries Private Limited, Startup India Recognition No. DIPP: 2629. Advisory Pannel of Startup Development in Uttarakhand of Progress Harmony Development (PHD) Chamber of Commerce & Industry, Dehradun and Advisory Committee of Startup Development Policy of Government of Uttarakhand. Currently he is working on a mission to establish a new model of technical education by integrating large number of industries and corporate as partner under the Industry Academics Partnership (IAP) Programm of Siddharth Institutions to promote “Techno Commercial” education in the institute of higher learning. Under this programme both the partners simultaneously stake hold on learning and innovation for their growth through a culture of mutually extended manpower, expertise and facilities. The mission is aimed to promote a more professional environment to empower students primarily to be employer and/or to serve the society more meaningfully as market ready human resource.t...
